A plan to expand Tel Aviv University railway station has been approved for deposit by the district planning committee, according to October 22 reports from Port2Port and Tel Aviv News. It proposes new passenger halls, shaded bridges and a light rail connection. This is a planning milestone; the reports give no completion date.

A more connected journey

A shared hall would connect Israel Railways with the Green Line station under construction. Two new bridges over the Ayalon corridor would link the station and its surroundings, while another hall would face the planned public space along Rokach Street.

For passengers, the useful change would be the journey between services: arriving by train, transferring or continuing on foot. The proposal addresses those connections alongside space inside the station.

Access to the park and Expo

The design also considers visitors attending major events at Yarkon Park and Expo Tel Aviv, with halls and passages intended to help move crowds.

Passengers travelling now should plan around existing services. The reported decision does not announce that the proposed connections have opened.
