Golani Recon Soldier (Tel Aviv Resident), Cpl. M., Completes Commanders Course In The 906 Reconnaissance Battalion
Cpl. M. immigrated to Israel from New York and now lives in Tel Aviv.
He spent his entire life in the United States and came to Israel for a gap-year program before beginning university studies in late August 2023, just weeks before the events of October 7th.
Although his Zionist identity was always strong, he hadn’t planned to enlist in the IDF. That changed on October 7th when he truly grasped the meaning and importance of Israel for the Jewish people.
He realized that the life he enjoyed abroad existed thanks to the strength of the Jewish nation and the IDF in Israel.
Without Israel and without Jews living in their homeland, there would be no future for his family or for the Jewish people in the Diaspora.
From that moment, he knew there was no other path but to move to Israel, serve his country, lead, and fight for its defense.
From the day he enlisted, his goal was clear, not only to serve as a combat soldier but to become a commander, to lead by example, use his skills to make an impact, and support those around him.
